Catfish | Aviator Lounge Chair
Oh, Restoration Hardware. I love you. But you're so often out of my league.
I've been shopping for an eDesign client and recently fell in love with RH's Aviator Chair. At $1355 (on sale), it's a little spendy. But such a statement piece!
So we did a little digging. What did we find?
The Accelerator Vintage Tobacco Leather Chair. For $559.99. A little smaller in depth, and the leather doesn't look quite as warn, but it has good reviews!
Score!

DIY | Ikea Hacks
Ikea hacking. Sounds scary, right?
So what's the deal?
Buy inexpensive Ikea furniture, add non-Ikea elements and create new pieces.
Here are a few favorites!

DIY | Dresser Makeover
Recently purchased a CL dresser for our bedroom. I named him Hugo.
Then decided that I actually wanted an existing dresser upstairs. Thank God for patient husbands.
So Hugo stayed in my office. And I began researching DIY projects to give him a face lift. We are going to be working together daily. Hugo needs to look good. Real good.
See below for just a few of my favorite DIY dressers.

Shopping | Unexpected Places
We've all flown. Bored and anxious (if you are like me), there's a chance you may have even picked up the Sky Mall catalog for a quick laugh. I mean, they carry man spanx.
You may have also been up late and watched the HSN. Maybe you've even called Cleo. No judgements.
Well, that brings me to this post. It's easy enough to find inexpensive solutions at Target and Ikea, but lets shop the unexpected shall we?
Genuine Agate Coasters
Gorgeous, right? Perfect for an eclectic living room or dressed up nightstand.
Bench-Top Parts Rack with 15 Bins
I want these for my tool room or my sewing station! Or maybe both.
Brick Hangers - Set of 4
Kind of perfect for hanging pictures on brick, right?
Wrought Iron Wood Hoop
I like the contemporary look of this wood holder. Usually they're so chunky and traditional looking.
Meloni Armchair
Okay, so maybe Home Decorators Collection is more expected, but this chair is a great price and a good fit for either traditional or transitional rooms.
Spiraling Spirals Wallcovering
Love this graphic wallcovering. Spoonflower has fabrics and wallcoverings for great prices, and bonus point, you can make your own.
Where do you shop that's unexpected? Care to share?

Shopping | HGTV Design Star
Are you watching HGTV Star? I am. Every Sunday. Religiously.
Some of the designs have been "meh." Many of them actually.
However, I did love Tiffany's design on the last challenge. I mean, there were a few things that were missing, but eclectic furniture and teal gets me every time. And lets be real. Her canvas was a school bus interior.
And by the way, I kind of want to be friends with Sabrina Soto.
A lot of the shopping scenes fly by, but this time I took careful note of where they went.
See below for the list, and next time you're in LA, go crazy!

Throwback Thursday | North PDX Vintage Tour
Lets take a little North Portland vintage tour, shall we? Everyone likes themselves a good deal. Especially Portlanders. Particularly this Portlander.
On the list? Kenton Antiques & Collectibles, Give & Take, St John's Vintage, Salvage Works and Pinwheel.
Kenton Antiques & Collectibles
8112 N Denver Ave
Legit shop with "oddities galore" (their words, not ours). Vintage luggage, automotive accessories, old Playboys, art, and even a 1950's metal beverage jar...that I am still dreaming about for our next backyard soiree.
Give & Take
8128 N Denver Ave
Small-ish space with a lot of goodies packed in. Fun furniture pieces, purses, clothing and home accessories. I bought a bamboo chevron side table for our guest room. The antique sofa frame and candelabra in their back space may require a return visit.
St Johns Vintage
8416 N Lombard
"Where Style Meets Vintage." Good selection of men and women's clothing and some fun furniture pieces. The shop is actually larger than one would expect with a large back room filled with furniture and art.
Salvage Works
2030 N Willis Blvd
Inspiration overload. This place has building materials turned furniture, and doll heads turned planters. Gorgeous selection of reclaimed materials, including raw edged wood. On my mind still? The prefab chicken coop for $400.
Pinwheel
7429 N Leavitt Ave
New kid on the block with a well refined selection including vintage finds and newly refinished antiques. I bought a decorative brass bird clip for our bathroom gallery wall (hello, Lavender holder). Their selection is bound to get better with time.
On my list for this weekend is Sabi and Friends Vintage. It wasn't open when I took my self guided tour, but I'm pretty sure my nose marks are still all over their windows. There was a lot of good stuff to see.
Hungry? Proper Eats on Lombard was healthy and tasty.
